General Zia's sown seeds flourished well. No harvest of hatred has been as fruitful as the crop sown by General Zia. Years have passed, yet this field is harvested every day, and by the next day, new fruit-bearing branches are seen swaying. The floors of mosques and Imambargahs have been reddened by the blood of so many faithful people. It is a pity that mosques are not safe even in a Muslim country. It is a thousand pities that the religion which declared the killing of a Muslim by a Muslim as forbidden, which called one Muslim the brother of another, its own self-proclaimed leaders declare their own Muslim brother a 'Kafir' (infidel) and issue fatwas for his murder. The differences between Shia, Sunni, and Deobandi have existed for centuries, but for the sake of his own interests, General Zia took this discord to a point from which returning has now become, at the very least, impossible. If this issue is not resolved immediately for the betterment of Islam and humanity, then surely this fire of hatred, passing through all the homes of the country, will reach the national borders and turn them into ashes as well.
