Lahore! This book includes essays from nearly a hundred writers, researchers, litterateurs, historians, and Lahore-experts, whose writings offer an opportunity to see, understand, and feel Lahore from a new perspective. "Muntashir Auraq-e-Lahore" is, in fact, a bouquet of such emotions, observations, memories, and research, compiled by over a hundred individuals who hold knowledge, art, literature, history, and love for Lahore, each from their own viewpoint. The pages comprising this book on Lahore were scattered, having been part of various magazines, newspapers, and journals; most of the articles were published in the monthly "Ahwal-e-Lahore," a journal of the City District Government Lahore. Others were taken from Facebook, while some were provided by friends in manuscript form. These scattered papers are now in book form, possessing a connection and continuity that shows the reader the past, the present, and sometimes a glimpse of the future of Lahore. On one page, history speaks; on another, there is the beauty of architecture; here, the vibrancy of bazaars; there, the silence of alleys; and elsewhere, the mention of a master, a dervish, a poet, or a freedom fighter who became the identity of Lahore. The most beautiful aspect of this book is its message of unity in diversity—meaning the subject of all is Lahore. Despite the variety of topics, a spirit of deep love for Lahore is evident in all the writings. Here, individuals from different schools of thought, generations, classes, and languages have written solely for Lahore, as the brilliance of this city lies in the fact that it adopts everyone and embraces all. "Muntashir Auraq-e-Lahore" is a gift not only for the people of Lahore but for all those lovers of Lahore who consider this city not just a place, but a love, an experience, a dream. Although these "papers" are scattered, their overall impression gives the reader a glimpse of a connected, living, and dynamic Lahore. This book is a portrait of all those facets of Lahore that had faded under the dust of history, or which the current generation has only heard of but not seen.
